Rational Park, in collaboration with Johalla Projects, is very excited to present REMOTE HORIZONS, a new exhibition of photographs made by British photographer and musician Reuben Wu. The exhibition will run from NOVEMBER 23 to NOVEMBER 30. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 7pm to 11pm.
Reuben Wu’s photographs act as testaments to his travels. “Over the last six years, Wu has been making photographs as he makes his way across the continents and tours as a musician with Ladytron. This exhibition will present ten photographs culled from Wu’s large archive. Intrinsically interested in the balance (or lack thereof) between the natural world and humanity, his works present an opportunity to experience the vastly unseen or forgotten.
Wu’s landscapes are simultaneously extreme and sensational, which implicates his underlying inclination toward exploration. The photographs – in their solitude – feel deeply intimate or even contemplative. Interestingly, it is this reflective quality and Wu’s innate sense of expedition that enhances the naturally striking scenes he seeks out – whether they be the Atacama Desert in South America or the Svalbard archipelago near the North Pole.
Reuben Wu (b. 1975) is a photographer and musician currently living in Chicago, Illinois. He received his MSc in 1998 from the University of Liverpool. Wu is the Artist in Residence at Latitude Chicago and has upcoming exhibitions at the CTA Damen Blue Line Station and Schneider Gallery, Chicago.
